Join us in India at FOSS.IN!
Hi all: Mozilla will be conducting a Project Day in conjunction with FOSS.IN, India's largest Free & Open Source Software event the first week of December in Bangalore.
We'd love your help to make this day a success. Here's how you can participate:
1) *Speak at the project day:* As a contributor to Mozilla we encourage you to take a look at the proposed schedule for the day and then, if you are interested, submit an abstract to speak for our project. We encourage you to submit your discussion idea about Mozilla's project day to FOSS.IN. Some ideas might be focused on localization issues or around testing Indian websites -- or come up with a new one! Here is how to submit an abstract.
2) *Indicate you are interesting in attending:* If you don't feel like presenting at the project day, please post a comment indicating that you would like to participate. We are trying to get a sense of how many presenters and participants we will have. As of right now, the FOSS.IN website is only providing information about the Call for Participation, but please stay tuned and plan to attend the Mozilla Day!
3) *Please spread the word!* We will need you to help get a lot of momentum behind our project day so it proves to be valuable to all participants and to the Mozilla project. We need speakers!
Let us know what you think. We really want there to be a lot of community members (new and old!) in the room during the day of FOSS.IN.
Thanks!

Software Freedom Day Celebration
Mozilla is helping recognize Software Freedom Day (SFD) on September 15th, along with hundreds of organizations worldwide. SFD is a global, grassroots effort to spread the word about the importance of free and open source software. Here are the events we're helping to support:
- Utah Open Source Conference, 9/6 - 9/8
- San Francisco State's celebration, 9/13: Zak Greant of the Mozilla Foundation will be giving a talk to Dr. Sameer Verma's "Managing Open Source" class.
- Carolina Open Source Initiative's event at UNC Chapel Hill -- Mark Finkle, one of our evangelists, and Justin Scott, an intern responsible for creating and launching Rock Your Firefox, will be conducting a session on how to get involved with Mozilla.
- The Beijing Linux Users group event at Tsinghua University, 9/15. Li Gong who heads our China office will be speaking.
- Mozilla 24, 9/15: We've registered our own worldwide conference as a Software Freedom Day event. Zak Greant will be providing a talk on free and open source software, while David Humphrey, professor at the School of Computer Studies at Seneca College, Toronto, Canada, will discuss how to get involved with open source. Register here to attend an in-person event at Stanford or catch the sessions online.
