Firefox 2 News & Reviews

Posted by ken on Wed, 10/25/2006 - 21:12Firefox Press

Firefox 2 is all over the Internet by now.
I thought that I’d start this thread as a place where we all can post Firefox news and reviews to find out what’s being said about Firefox 2.
Try and pick the larger sites and the more credible news sources because their opinions are respected by 1,000’s of visitors each day.

Cnet’s Firefox 2 Review
Editor's ratings 5 stars
Average user ratings 4.5 stars out of more than 8,000 votes
More than 7 million downloads since the release
The one thing that I didn't like on Cnet was they said system requirements are Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003 Server and they didn't list the other platforms.

Firefox 2 Walk Through Video
There’s a great video on Cnet that guides you through Firefox 2’s features and what’s new about it. It’s good for beginners and power users. I actually learned a few new things.

"LEOPARD" & THE COMPATIBILITIY PROBLEMS WITH VISTA PORGRAM IF ANY ?

Posted by JT5 on Sat, 10/20/2007 - 14:14Firefox Press

Well not knowing for sure weather it's me or certain problems in trying to get started in "spreading the word" that I was having when I came across the Article  in the news about the "leopard" update and fixing problems with in the system now I have the Article yet I haven't been able to insert in here yet.I know that "leopard" is more or less in line with security Issues rather then the insertion of text but when you run Vista security takes on a whole new meaning and if your not use to it you could make a lot of errors in transferring and inserting information or it's just me?

Firefox Campus Edition on PC World Community Voices

Posted by Matthew Mikolay on Sun, 09/09/2007 - 02:57Firefox Press

Hello!

I write for PC World's Community Voices blog, and I just thought I'd say that I just posted about Firefox Campus Edition. I basically talk about the differences between Campus Edition and the regular edition, which are basically just the plugins. Check it out!

And yes, since I am a member of Spread Firefox, I do expect to be posting about Firefox often.

Firefox and InFormEnter: it don't know URL compartment

Posted by ghisirds on Sat, 07/21/2007 - 09:06Firefox Press

Hi,
I installed Firefox as browser and Informenter as extension to put dates in the forms.
However, especially on French sites, happen that it don't know URL compartment: don't appear the arrow on side to put dates from contextual menu.

For example a site where don't work is the following:
http://guide-paris-france.allisonline.org/annuaire/submit_site.php?id_cat=0

There are a lot of sites that don't work, expecially French sites.
Why?
Is there a solution?
Thank
Mattia

Firefox breaching another language barrier

Posted by cppgenius on Mon, 06/04/2007 - 22:27Firefox Press

Firefox can add Afrikaans, one of 11 official South African languages, to its list of languages in which it is available. This was done by the non-profit organisation Translate.org.za

Isn't it nice to know that Firefox is available in a native language version for more people around the world than any other Web browser.

"End-of-life for Firefox 1.5"

Posted by ken on Sun, 04/22/2007 - 20:40Firefox Press

Unless my information is incorrect, “Firefox 1.5.0.x will be maintained with security and stability updates until April 24, 2007”.
There’s still a surprisingly large amount of Firefox 1.5 users out there. Perhaps they have their reasons for not updating Firefox, but it highly suggested that users upgrade to 2.0.

I have people who come to me who are using IE5 which is fine with me because when their PC craps out on them, I get to install Firefox, that’s my running deal, but I’d hate to see Fx users having problems especially since those who wish to target us and our computers have increased their technology to do so.

Pass the word about this, post it on your blogs and web sites so that our fellow Firefox users don’t fall too far behind and make themselves vulnerable to attacks.

digg it
