My Lab switiched!
I work in a multimedia lab at the University of Rochester (Rochester, NY). Lots of the budget tends to go to us, for buying new dual G4s, and sexy video editing stuff. Anyway I asked my boss if we could trial Firefox now that it is a 1.0 release. And he said yes! There are 18 computers in the lab, plus two behind the desk station in use. All have been switched over to Firefox as of about 1pm today. It took only a few minutes for the installs, and if this one lab trial of Firefox goes well, in the next few months we may be able to get premission to add Firefox to the drive images for the other 4 labs on campus. Our lab builds our computers by hand as some have specific software requirements, so that is why I got permission to work on the computers in our lab.
Anyway, good news! We can finally trash Netscape 7.1 and 6.2.3 which are installed on all the computers, and give people an incentive to not use internet explorer where I work! Lots of webdesign gets done here too, so Firefox is a particularly good choice for making CSS and other web standards display properly.
