Spreading Firefox With Eye Candy
Yes there are many ways to promote Firefox and this is one has proven to be effective.
I’ve been a long time collector and creator of Mozilla artworks and back in early 2005, I started providing Mozilla fan art to visitors including wallpapers, icons, screensavers, and other graphics and they have all become popular download choices on my site.
I’m also a member of deviantART.com where I aggressively promote Firefox with art media like wallpapers, icons, extension features, and customized ads that are designed to look more like mini pieces of art.
deviantART.com hosts more than 30,000,000 pieces of artwork of all media types from paintings, 3D art, wallpapers, Flash games and more. There are also over 4.5 million members and while I don’t have official numbers (I’m working on it), it appears that the majority of users use Firefox. This is an assumption but there are so many artists pages with Firefox promos on them, and Firefox as an art genre is highly popular.
You can find themes, extensions, icons, wallpapers, splash screens and more.
I have many friends on the site and the majority of them use Firefox with their ages ranging from 13-65. Awesome isn’t it.
In my gallery you’ll find many pieces that are specific to Mozilla graphics including some shown here. An example of an effective marketing method that I’ve discovered is that it is easier to get a person interested and excited about Firefox is you can introduce them to it through cool graphics. Banners and buttons are cool graphics but I find it to be a much better idea to get someone to put a 1600x1200 wallpaper on their monitor for all to see rather than an 80x15 button on a site where it’ll get lost visually. It’s like comparing a billboard to a bumper sticker.
The other plus is that if the graphic is decent and appealing enough, non-Firefox users will actually download Firefox graphics and use them. It’s inevitable for them to at least become curious about Firefox and check it out all leading to a potential new end user.
Create some Firefox art no matter one what kind and everyone will like it and share it giving Firefox even more deserving exposure.
