Can you give details of how to organize an event for Firefox ?

Hi, I am Avinash a die-hard fan of Firefox, and recently I have joined this community. I was fascinated to see some projects like Spread Firefox in Japan, Brazil,... I am happy that world is beckoning to Firefox and I am sure that Firefox will be a leading browser than IE in a year or two. I want to be a part of this and so I wish to organize a event on this in India ( as I live in India), but i don't know the procedures, rules, .... of doing this. Can some help me in this ? Should I have to take permission from anyone ? What are the benfits that I can give to participants of the event, speakers, sponsors, organizers,... If some one can clarify this to me, I will be greatly thankful to him.

Thanking you,

Avinash.

Hi Avinash:

First off -- thanks for your support and interest!  We will in fact have a few Mozilla employees heading to Bangalore at the beginning of December for FOSS.in (we just submitted a project day proposal).  Where are you located?

Here are a few options:

- You could help plan a community meet-up in your locale (we'll help) and we could potentially have a few Mozilla speakers/representatives there.  Our Brazilian community recently did this and it turned out great:  http://jtbatson.blogspot.com/2007/06/what-trip-mozillas-last-few-days-in.html

- Help us gather folks for a community meet-up/party at FOSS.in

- Organize an event (install day, Firefox how-to session, etc.) at your school (if applicable!).  We have students all over the world gearing up for "back-to-school" events.

Send me a note (mary at mozilla.com) and we'll help you get started!

 Thanks!
