changing computers

Recently upgraded my computer and had the job of transferring all the old bookmarks while keeping the handful of new ones.

Here is what I did:

1   cabled the two computers together

2    searched and found old bookmarks file

3    copied to (new) desktop

4    searched and found bookmarks file & folder on new computer.

5   renamed existing bookmaks.html to bookmarks_original.html

6   dragged old bookmarks file to folder

so that's really it.

Just two more things: any easier way,  & can this be a suggestion to somehow automate the that task?

You can import any bookmark file into an existing profile. Use import - file in the bookmark manager. So just copy the old bookmark.html to a USB-drive or similar and import it into the new setting.

If you want all settings from the old PC on the new one just copy the profile folder.

Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer automatically keeps bookmarks synchronized between two computers. It can also be used to easily transfer bookmarks from one computer to another. Just install the extension on the first computer, let the bookmarks be uploaded, then install the extension on the second computer, and let the bookmarks be downloaded.

I've just found the best of bookmark backup sites/services.
As the others, it allows you to backup and access your bookmarks from anywhere in the world, but this one is a lot hipper looking, it's highly customizable and you can see thumbnails of all of your bookmarks.
It's extremely cool and I've stopped using my other services and replaced them with this one.
