HELP ME!!!

MY computer is very slow...(because of IE7), Ie7 let viruses in and all the other stuff. My anti-virus can't seem to find anything wrong. I've updated it, and the program is up-to-date. I have windows defender, it's up-to-date and it won't find anything wrong. I think there's something wrong with my registry. Can anyone help? Does anyone have a free program i can use that's good?
Here are my system statistics:
Windows XP SP2
Dell Dimension 3700* (not sure)
502MB RAM
Intel Pentium 4
3.00GHz
Years of use: 4-6years...

Now that i use Firefox, my computer seems to slighty work faster...

I've stopped using Ie7. I'm still using Windows XP SP2. Firefox works better now, so does my windows.

Easy:

1.Delete IE

2.Stop using Windows

3.Buy a Mac.

4.Get Firefox.

Now you've abandoned Microsoft's useless products and you're also virus-free.

That's just what happens when you use IE.  However, in order to fix your problem, I recommend that you find what files these are, and remove them from startup in msconfig (to access this, go to start, run, and type in "msconfig").  After that, restart in selective startup with your new settings.  You should be able to locate the files that previously ran on your computer and delete them.  Once you've fixed it, you should use Firefox now to make sure you don't have this problem again.

Might be a stupid question but in those 4-6 years have you ever defragmented your computer? And dumped all your unwanted/temp, etc files?
Oops! Just saw yr blog for 'make your computer work better'. Hmmm, seems to be a contradiction here somewhere. ???

Heh, That was before i found those products...I found out using the Defragmentor in windows slows down your computer a bit.
