Microsoft's Micrix

i found this artical on the BBC news about Ms a Open-Source OS called Micrix.

Both "Micrix" and "Lindows" sound lame, but I think Lindows is a better contender. Maybe they'll name it something else pseudo-catchy, as they did with Zune and Xbox. (You don't think they didn't come up with something else, did you...?)

If you scroll down to the bottom of the article, the last few paragraphs say that it's just a "what-if" on the part of the author =P

For several years I've been of the opinion that the only solution M$ will find to "counter" FOSS is to join it - through the development of a Microsoft $ponsored Linux project.

The idea of "Micrix" has been around for years.  I'm sure that M$ has considered it, at least superficially.  Whether they do or not is probably (AFAICT) the diciding factor as to whether or not they survive the next 10 years of software development.

Who knows?  (Heheh - but we can certainly hope!)
