High School Rep?

Posted by admiralfreak on Fri, 11/17/2006 - 02:37College Reps

Hello, I am a 10th grader and a firm believer in Firefox.  Right now I am trying to convince my school to convert to Firefox.  I was wondering if there is anyway that I can make a install CD to show some of the teachers and the network department (all 3 of them).

I have been trying to get this done since last year but know I think it is time to be more vocal.  I already made a Firefox 2 vs. IE7 Powerpoint presentation for my Computer Application class.

Any help and tips would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Is there anyway that I can take a look at your presentation? I'd love to see it.
You can PM me and I'll give you my e-mail address for you to send it.

Im all for you man but think about it... why would anyone listen to us? The board has been using IE forever!! why would they want to change? my suggestion, just get all your friends to use it and their friends. I want to convert my school mto firefox also but it probably wont happen. anyways, good luck, let me know how it turns out

I'm trying to do the same thing, too.  My computer teacher uses Firefox, too, but he is too tied up trying to get the district to do other stuff to even begin discussing a full-scale district-wide deployment.

For now, I just have a copy of Firefox Portable on my flash drive.  They're a bit behind, with only 1.5.07 and 2.0 RC3 released right now, but I think 2.0 final is coming soon.

I my opinion the best cd distribution (ever) is Firemonger and you can find the link under Featured projects on the right or http://www.firemonger.org/en/ go there.

It is still at the 1.5.0.6 stage, but I am sure the guys over there are hard at work to get the Firefox 2.0 shipped (right
Robert?).

It comes with Thunderbird, Firefox, various add-ons and some spreadfirefox material. All in all a perfect package for you admiralfreak.

Good luck and give us some feedback here (as comment) on the progress!

Marco

Thank you so much.  This information is invaluable to me.  Again, thank you for your help.

(I love this spell checking feature in 2.0)
