I need a simple text counter...

just use tinycount.com

If you just want a no-nonsense text counter, go to tinycount.com.  all you do is paste a line of code and you are done.

Try this script, it uses the Firefox Download RSS Feed, of course, which is exactly what you want.

The Script:

I got the script from http://www.firefoxtutor.com/21/firefox-counter/ and only shows the amount of downloads of Firefox with no link, you can style it with CSS if you want to.
