Tabbed Email Reading

I wonder if this is possible...

I have a Yahoo! Mail account that I don't use anymore, and the Yahoo! mail page looks like an e-mail client, sort of like Thunderbird. An exception is that they have tabbed e-mail reading.

Since Firefox has tabbed browsing, why can't Thunderbird have tabbed email reading?

If this is a bad idea, feel free to criticize me.

I am all for this idea. If Thunderbird could not make it for 2.0, let's hope they make it for 3.0 (which would be 1.9 on the Trunk), a good point to include this major feature. But lets' hope all the tabbed browsing capabilities of Firefox is included in Thunderbird at one go, which includes rearranging tabs, etc.

...would let you compose a new message? I think it should be so...

A long long time ago for Thunderbird 2.

However because of a few problems, it had to be stated for a future release.

This was planned before Yahoo released a Semi-Public Beta of their Email Service.

...I see. So Thunderbird doesn't want to copy Yahoo's idea? Well, they did that with Firefox and tabbed browsing! Why not now?

I just pointed out this (as in the idea for Tabbed Messages) was planned out before Yahoo released their Beta. I'm just saying it won't be in Thunderbird right away.

Myk has more on why. Check this blog.

Thunderbird WILL do this, just not in 2.0

I think they should include the tabbed email reading in 3.0 or even 4.0 if they have the time.

Actually, it's a great idea. I'm sick of having Thunderbird open 43583095720394713094710394713491037 windows...
