They have Opera Mini for mobiles. Why not making Firefox for mobile phones?

Not that I've used Opera on a phone, but given that Opera Mobile is a mature product and Minimo is still pre-alpha, is it really that much better?

(Note that Opera Mobile is not the same as Opera Mini.  Opera Mini is the Java-based "browser" that runs mostly on a server so it can run on any Java-capable phone.  Opera Mobile is a full browser that runs on Symbian, WinCE, etc. and is more comparable to Minimo.)

I have used Opera Mobile, Opera Mini , Minimo , Mobile Explorer and a  lot of other  mobile browsers, and Minimo is still very , very alpa and only available on Windows Mobile. Which seems a little strange , since the Symbian platform is responsible for more than 50% of the world's smartphones and Java is something that works on most handsets. The best mobile browser yet is actually Safari, and I'm not only talking iPhone here. The web browser in most Symbian 60 3rd  handsets is a development from the Safari code, so much so that it actually identifies itself as Safari to the web server.

So for right now, Opera Mobile or the Symbian browser are your best choices. But I have no doubt that the MiniMo project will mature in the greatest of fashions. There are many inventive ideas there. Of course, getting Symbian support is crucial, since it represents so many handsets.
