Cannot read "ty marketing" in Fx but can in IE

I think it's more a matter of screen/window size -- SFX seems to be designed for 1024x768 and larger.  I rarely run my web browser maximized, and every time I visit SFX I have to stretch the window.

As for why the tabs don't cover the header on IE, it seems to be a side effect of IE6's quirks, making the box larger than it is in other browsers.  In IE7 beta 2, this part of the layout looks the same as it does in Firefox.

How could I explain to anyone (likely to switch to Firefox) that IE renders text that cannot be read when opening spreadfirefox.com with Fx?

Is this really good design?

Maybe  the text size on  your IE browser is set to a smaller size than in your Firefox  browser? the tabs  on the site will get bigger to suit the browser text size.

No, I checked it myself.  He's probably running at a low resolution.  IE6 has a bug that makes the header box taller than it should be.  The heading is anchored to the top, and the tabs are anchored to the bottom, so on IE6, the tops of the tabs are below the baseline of the subheading.

Here's a screenshot showing IE6, IE7, and Firefox 1.5 at just over 800 pixels wide:

Notice that IE6, though it doesn't handle the background correctly, has a taller box than IE7 beta 2 or Firefox 1.5.

IMO, the header should use a taller box, so that the tabs will slide past the headings on smaller screens even in browsers that display it correctly, like IE7 and Firefox.
