Open Source Domain Parking taking on Microsoft

I am not sure if somebody has mentioned it here already but Microsoft has  managed to get 4.5 million parked domains from GoDaddy to be switched to Microsoft IIS servers. Which makes it look like 5% more sites are now using IIS.

In response Bruce Perens has launched a project called Open Source Parking http://opensourceparking.com/ which is free and where you can park your unused domains. The pages served will carry ads for Firefox and other Open Source software.

So if you have a parked domain you know what to do, you'll be helping Firefox at no cost to you whatsoever. If you are parking domains for a company or the company you work for, try to get this done there to.

Guessing domain names is a trick i've been using to find products' websites. (Say, to get to firefox's site, typing-in www.firefox.com ) - and this hs led me to so many parked sites, full of ads.

Until now, these ads were of casinos & similar, but if this idea kicks off ( and I'm pretty sure it will ), this could be a quite effective way of spreading OSS.

Many thanks to Bruce Perens from all of the OSS community..
