Wondering About SFx's Forum Engine

I'm trying to start up a community network that will attract visitors to get involved and participate in a wide variety of technical oriented topics, from web development to C++ programming, networking to system administration.

I've looked at phpBB and all that but want to go with something a little more plain and less overhead. I was wondering what forum engine sfx uses and if there was perhaps a distribution package I might be able to obtain via download. Mainly I'm interested in the simplicity of the forums here and how clean the post topics are displayed on the left hand side. I'd like to have something similar implemented on my site.

Anyways, hope sfx wouldn't mind me asking. The overall layout and implementation of the forums here is very ideal for my situation.

As I understand it, SFX is (almost?) entirely built on Drupal.  Drupal is a modular content management system and has built-in support for blogs, forums, etc. It's also themeable, and the SFX theme is available from the Drupal website.

I seem to recall that at one point SFX used CivicSpace, which describes itself as a "Drupal distribution."  No doubt the SFX admins can tell you more.
