Firefox "ready-extended"

Posted by Ishkuk on Tue, 12/27/2005 - 18:12Counter Troubleshooting

I have recently read thebigone's post about spreading firefox around his school and would like to do the same. HOWEVER... I think that without certain extensions (CustomizeGoogle, Colourful tabs, IE Tab, and of course Noia Extreme, the list goes on) Firefox isn't THAT much better than IE (blasfamy!!!) My idea would be to be able to "Export" Firefox as a setup file, with all my extensions included!

Then I would put it on my Flash drive and get the school buzzing with Firefox (and it's fabulous extensions and themes)!

i like the idea alot but using the usb key might be difficult. i have tried at my school and the computers will not let you attach the usb key.  they will ask for an administrator password.  i think it would be better to go with something like firemonger which i think is a very good project.

You can also download Portable Firefox, install the extensions there and copy it somewhere on your school's computers.

Wew, I wished I could get my school to switch, if it were for me, everyone would use Edubuntu, but well.... Our system administrators are totally stubborn M$ freaks... Damn that.

maybe it should be left to the users to choose whether or not to have the 'not-so-popular' ones like 'Colorful tabs'. I used that one, thought it was pretty silly. Then I got 'PageStyle2Tab' - and I think its much better than the other.

The more popular ones like AdBlock & TabBrowserPreferences can be included, no probs.

You may want to check out the Firemonger project

Well I love Colourful tabs, however I will try PageStyle2Tab; anyway, it was just an example

would it be possible to make an extension that compiled Ffx in this way?

I kinda did it... added the extensions later -

And added em to the pendrive, so they can be installed quickly.. Good idea, although it is already done...or is it?
