Suggested Improvements for Firefox

Posted by ZCorker on Tue, 12/27/2005 - 17:14SFX Design Issues

Firefox does an excellent job at standards compliance.  From my own experience, Firefox seems to work with more sites than most browsers, but there are a few improvements that would make Firefox work a lot better:

   1) Bookmark import function doesn't appear to work that well.  The vast majority of Opera 8.5 bookmarks  wouldn't import this morning.

   2) Speed of use -- Instead of having to copy and select go with a mouse or type in the appropriate command, Firefox should have an additional right mouse button feature that allows you to copy and run with one click instead of two.  This feature is currently utilized in  Opera and is a real asset.

   3)  Although Firefox works extremely well, speed could be improved.  A review of the Avant Browser appears to indicate that Avant is lightning fast, but feature deficient. I believe it is possible to incorporate the speed of Firefox without loosing its feature rich assets.

  4)  Promotions -- I didn't find Firefox download the easiest thing to find on the Firefox site.  It would seem reasonable that a link to downloading should be on the front page.

I'm sorry to bring this up, but... what does this have to do with the design of the Spread Firefox website?

Kelson I think he thinks that Spread Firefox is the official site for Firefox and isn't sure what this site is about

If you drag a link into the address bar or tab bar it goes to that website automatically, doesn't it?

1. This is being considered by Firefox 2.0 Development Team

2. Install "Paste and Go" Extension for Firefox

3. Firefox is pretty fast, and speed is always being improved. Compare Firefox 1.0 with Firefox 1.5

4. This isn't an Official Firefox site, we only discuss how to spread the fire. Mozilla.com is Firefox's and Thunderbird's Official Site.

Anyway Cheers

3. Also, the Fasterfox extension does a lot to optimize pageload times.
