Firefox Speedometer

How about using the download counter to create a speedometer?

Basically, you read in the current value, wait a set period of time then read it again. You then display the difference on a speedometer dial.

Should be pretty easy in Javascript I'd have thought.

I like this, its a good idea. Showing the number of downloads just makes you say: "whoa look at that big number"

...but a speedometer could be used by spreadfirefox.com to judge how well peoples efforts are working. i.e. a fast speed would mean the current campaigns are working well. A slow speed would signal that extra promotion efforts, a new campaign strategy or an extra hard push are needed

The Baker is refering to a "speedometer", that would return the rate at which Firefox is being downloaded, as opposed to how many times it has been downloaded in real-time. For example it would generally say something like "2 Downloads Every Second".

Edit: was right first time :p but needs adaption, as the downloadometre is in v2 status now, it uses a different mechanism, doing just as TheBaker was saying... take a look at the php rss feed and How it was changed
