rel="nofollow"

Hi,

I'd like to suggest passing on some of your fabulous page rank to your best affiliates by removing rel="nofollow" from the top 5 links. Helping your best performers achieve higher positions in search engines will flow back to you as
more and more prospects visit your site.

Regards,
Wayne

Why do you have the rel="nofollow" attribute in the links
to your best affiliates' sites? The attribute is not included in
the code you provide to link to your site.

I can clear up the decision on this issue as I'm shouldering responsibility for clearing up the spam problems on SFx.

I can advise that rel="nofollow" will soon feature on all SFx links.

The issue is 100% one of anti-spam prevention, any side effect like the one you mention regarding the top affiliate roll call is unfortunately a secondary issue.

btw- the suggestion of removing the nofollow link on top affiliate blog roll would actually create an unfair affiliate advantage over other members by creating a perpetual page rank /affiliate improvement loop.

e.g affiliate does well + gets homepage link + gets more traffic = does even better = unfair advantage for other affiliates.

Those affiliates doing well get the kudo's and recognition they deserve by being on the homepage :)
