OffTopic: lost bookmarks :(

Unfortunately when the computer crashed on me last night...when it came back up...Firefox had reset itself and therefore lost ALL my hard-earned bookmarks. :( This is very frustrating, and I don't know if there is any way to get them back...I know that I can import bookmarks from Internet Explorer, or Netscape...but I had not kept those up to date since I started using Firefox about 2 months ago or more. I tried looking in the Firefox folders... hoping that maybe there was a folder from previous bookmarks in there somewhere...but no such luck.
Does anyone have any ideas ?? Or has this happened to you and what did you do to fix it??
I am guessing that I will just have to go thru the long drawn-out process of finding and bookmarking pages all over again...but this time I will make sure that I routinely copy the bookmarks folder (or link) onto my desktop so that I have them all just in case.

Wrong Forum:
Home » Forums » Syndicated Download Counter » Counter Troubleshooting

And wrong website:
sfx.com is the Firefox marketing website, and not concerned about technical issues of the browser itself.
Try the mozillazine forums at forums.mozillazine.org and be as precise and complete as possible in your problem description there.

That being said, try to find
c:\documents and settings\*your windows user name*\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*random string*.default\bookmarks.html - there are your bookmarks, along with the rest of your profile in the folder.
Note that Application Data commonly is a hidden folder and, having a german Windows, I do not know the exact englich translations for the system-folders' names.
