50,000,000 Thunderbird downloads

A little over 2 years after Firefox, its sister project has reached its first fifty million downloads.

The 50,000,000th download was reached at July 12th, 2007 at 15:30:18 UTC.

Back in April 2005, just before Firefox reached the fifty million downloads mark, I launched Firefox Statistics. In September or @31,604,556 I launched Thunderbird Statistics

My statistics site Firefox Statistics has finally got a design, the old one was just thrown a classic '95 stylish all in one page together to descibe the graphs, and there params.

While we are waiting, I have created a new combined graph, with both the prediction and realtime element. Try and play with the parameters, sn=number of units, su=d/w/m (day, week or month, month default). The parameters are for the X axis.

Then I look at the browser statistics from my website, it looks like people is too busy spreading FF, and forget to keep their own FF up to date, since 95%+ of the trafic on my FF site comes from this site.

When I look at the graph below, I get the picture, that it isn't just the users of this site, but a more general pattern. If everybody had upgraded the jump after the release of 1.0.6, should be a little bit bigger, than the one after 1.0.4, instead it is only about the half.

I will encourage everyone who is still running a deprecated version of Firefox to upgrade immediately.

Congratulations, today we have reached 75,000,000 downloads. The download was made 13:17:10 CEST.

Here are some facts to help you with a understanding of this huge number:

25% of the US population
Over 2 times the population of Canada
50% of the Russian population
16% of the population in the European Union
60% of the Japanese population
6% of the Chinese population

Thats 25,000,000 more downloads in less than 3 months, after the 50 million downloads milestone in April. The 100 million downloads milestone isn't that far away

Over the last days the downlads of Firefox has incresed to over 800,000 downloads pr day. What is going on? Is it IBM's employees downloading Firefox?

It would be great if we could make a new flyer (or update the old) for 50 million downloads. The sooner the better. I would really like if we could get this done before we hit the fifty millionth download.

I think the most important thing is to the English text ready as fast as possible, so we could get it translated into even more languages than last time, when Danish were missing. Afterwards we need to get a list of screenshots that needs to localized. Then the English text is finished, the gfx guys can begin to their work.

What should be in it?
How much of the old can we use again?
Any ideas?
I hope we make this a streamlined process!

I suggest that we work on this ftp, which also is accessable though http. Don't abuse the ftp!

Count down in time to 50mil

It looks like we are going to hit 50 millions on Friday. Thats 50 million downloads in a less than 6 months. Well done, folks.

How are we going to get this out to the wide public?
I think it would be really great if, we could get estabilished some events, to mark the 50 million downloads.
